The MLS Cup Final.

As you’ll see above, upset after upset has led to the unexpected match-up of FC Dallas vs. the Colorado Rapids. It’s not the flashy contest that New York vs. Los Angeles would have promised to be, but these two hard-working teams have scrapped their way tooth-and-nail into the Championship Game.

It is always a bit sad to close the final chapter on another Major League Soccer season, but as with past years, it is encouraging to know that the league is continuing to build momentum in the right direction.

And, before you kiss this season goodbye, check out full match highlights from last night’s culminating event: The MLS Cup Final.

This piece of art succinctly illuminates the general sentiment behind the North London derby, scrapped out year-in year-out by Arsenal and Tottenham.

Past the rivalry, each team had plenty of motivation coming into this weekend’s match. A win for the Gunners would put them top of the table, and a win for Hotspur would put them back within striking distance of the top-4.

As anticipated, the game was a real cracker.

AGUDELO!!!!!!!!!

It’s far too early to get excited about this name, but it sure is fun to scream when a USA!USA! shot hits the back of the net!

17-yr old Juan Agudelo struck gold in his debut performance for the USMNT yesterday against South Africa. Let’s hope the kid strikes gold again and again in next summer’s Gold Cup! It’s crazy to think, but winning that tournament is HUGE in getting on track for the next World Cup in 2014.

You’ll hear a lot about Bob Bradley’s experimental lineup yesterday, but all you really need to know is: AGUDELO!!!

Check out the goal, full match highlights, and post-game reaction from the USMNT.

With a cracking strike from Dane Richards, the New York Red Bulls have clinched the MLS Eastern Conference title.

And while being conference champs is always impressive, the league is astounded at the complete 180 the NYRB have turned after last season. The team have notched 30 more points than they did a year ago, which is simply unthinkable.

Certainly, adding two Designated Players to your roster can’t hurt. But even still, good on ya NYRB!
